To celebrate International Women's Day, we spoke to females from across the Xcede Group teams. We discussed their careers, challenges they have overcome to get to where they are today, and how they are working to #EmbraceEquality.
Here, we speak to Tammy Rangila.
What is your previous experience / has your career path looked like?
Young and ambitious, I was set on making money and moving out when I turned 18! And I did just that. Started as an Au pair for a General Manager of an Agency who introduced me to the world of recruitment – 6 years later and I have never looked back.
Name a woman that has inspired you:
Definitely my mother.
What challenges have you faced along the way and what did you do to overcome them?
What is a road to success without challenges right ? I moved to a new province on my own, and left my fiancé in Durban for a year while I adjusted to a new workplace and new industry without having the comfort of my family to lean on for quite some time. It was a positive life challenge and definitely made me grow up very quickly - it was a time I will never regret and will always be thankful for.
What is the best piece of advice you would give to a younger you?
Never be scared to take risks and keep smashing your goals.
How will you #EmbraceEquity for women’s equality today and beyond?
I will continue to be a voice to ensure that diversity in the business remains consistent and that there are equal opportunities measured on skills and capabilities, and shift hiring to valuing what we term as a culture “add” as opposed to a culture fit.
